The Audio-Visual Collection in general is a diverse collection that offers its users a unique perspective of North Carolina State University. This small series includes audio and visual recordings of ceremonies that took place on the NCSU campus. These include: tributes to Chancellor Harrelson, the installation of Chancellors Bostian, Caldwell, Thomas, and Poulton; the dedicatory exercises of Brooks Hall, Cox Hall, and Jordan Hall; North Carolina State University Day; Watauga Medal presentations; and Founder's Day Dinners.

Joab Langston Thomas was Chancellor of North Carolina State University (1976-1981), President of the University of Alabama (1981-1988), Professor at the University of Alabama (1961-1975), and Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Alabama (1974-1975). Harrelson, J. W. (John William), 1885-1955

John William Harrelson was born on June 28, 1885, in Double Shoals Community, Cleveland County, North Carolina. He graduated from North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (later North Carolina State University) in 1909 with a bachelor's degree in engineering.
